ARTIST CHECK: Marina Abramovic

Recently I learned about performance art in my photography history class which is basically a performance where a person or multiple people partake in some type of action, sometimes extreme, that challenges the audience to think and wonder in new ways. This type of art can occur anywhere as long as it consists of time, space, a performer's body, and a connection of the performer body to the audience.

I found this art extremely interesting and definitely want to research more performance artists.
Here are a few videos of Marina Abramovic's work...
she explores the limits of the body, and possibilities of the mind.

And her latest work where she sat in a chair for 10 weeks (I believe) silent, and audience members took turns sitting in a chair across from her...

I shall be posting more performance artists soon...
