Whenever I'm in Madison...I feel how real this article is.

but back home, there are black men EVERYWHERE and I instantly get ADD. I just want to indulge! But then reality hits and I remember the reason for a good chunk of my bitter past. The reason I know so many women who bitterly spew "MEN/NIGGAS AIN'T SHIT!!!" and geez that sucks



This article presents the connudrum I face daily. I love black men................LIKE LOOOOOOOOOVE me some black men. They are incredible, beautiful, talented beings (not to discount the beauty, and talent in other races) But as a black woman, there is something to loving a black man I don't think a man of another race good ever give.........Furthermore, given our complicated black history, black women tend to have the urge to be UBER protective of black men. We want to defend them because the rest of the world is attacking them. (While they attack us as well. I'm offended daily by something a black man has said about a black woman.)

I said today I think black women are really really angry. We're quick to dismiss the potential dependence on a man because we're taught to expect they'll eventually leave us, betray or cheat on us, or be killed. We're taught that our love is an eventual tragedy. Every love story a Shakepearean tale waiting to happen. Sigh. There really REALLY ought to be more black love stories (As I wrote in an earlier blog: Read Here Black Love Stories)

I want to believe in my black love story. I've never not given someone a chance. I've straight talked to guys I knew it wasn't gonna work out with, just to say I did it. I never passed up a potential love story. But in light of attitudes toward black women, these stats, and well time in general things are looking.........shakey.
