Then I received a perm. Im not exactly sure when i started to get perms i asked my mother and she knows nothing, everytime i ask her a question about my young years, she clueless and to get me off my back just say the first thing that comes to her mind, but i would guess maybe around 5th grade? i do not know at least i know it wasnt in 3rd grade, but anywho...I do not remember telling my mother i want a perm or anything like that maybe I did but im pretty sure I got one because perms make your hair more manageable. All i remember is enjoying the length of hair for many years, always been the one with one of the longest black girls' hair in my classes. Never thought about the health of it just knew i liked it long and straight.

*I believe this was in 3rd grade and my hair was pressed*
It wasnt until i was older, until i realized the state of my hair...sophomore year of high school inoticed breakage and my mother did too and chop chop is exactly what happenend all the way up to my chinny chin chin....that was tragic lol...but I got used to it and it grew back in two years...actually the longest it has ever been, i was me again...I was getting perms about every weeks, even though my scalp was very sensitve and it burned like hell but i had to get my hair straight as possible.
College approached and soon after breakage again I had to cut my hair once again this time just below my ears i believe this cut was in march 2009. But at the end of 2008 I decided that I was going to go natural, I was tired of having to cut my hair evert time i had lots of breakage. So during this process i flatironed my hair with a lot of shea butter oil sheen. It was very shiny but definitely not bouncy, but I was ok with that. But in july of 2009 i said i could not do it anymore, and I went to the shop and got a perm. MISTAKE!...since I have not gotten a perm in about 9 months it was extremely hard to keep the perm in long enough to get all of it straight, it was burning really bad and I told her she had to take it out. After a few weeks I regretted getting that perm when i had went without it for 9 months, which had never done before. So then I had to start completely over.
*The day i punked out and received a perm in July 2009*
Once again it shed really bad at first but it stopped and less hair came out of my hair. I was happy and more determined this time around. SO far it has been ONE year since that last perm and it feels great. I have been inspired by some many people on youtube and other websites to grow my hair long, healthy and beautiful and thats my goal. When I graduate in 2012 my goal is to walk across that stage with long healthy hair.
As of right now, I joined a hair growth challenge on youtube that lasts for about a year and half and during that time I will be trying various organic products to help me reach my goal. Im very excited about this and cant wait to prove to my people that we can have long, beautiful straight hair.
*Natural me!*
*Stay I(nspired)
